Jonathan Brown /Nancy Kipling Middleton Teesdale
« on: Thursday 29 October 20 18:54 GMT (UK) »
Hi folk's,my Gtx3 Grandfather Jonathan Brown was born c1817 in Middleton/Mickleton in
Teesdale,It struck me I had never looked for any further information reference his parents so dug out my file and checked a copy of the 41 census and noted His father was John Brown and mother Nancy.
I only have familysearch and info is scant but I found a marriage 1817 in Middleton 1817 to a Nancy
Kipling I wondered if anyone could "flesh" out their story with parent's etc,he lived all his life in Mickleton as a lead miner Marrying Sarah Wallis/Walace.
Any info much appreciated regards Steve.

Hi  Comberton yes that looks right I must have Jonathan's birth date wrong I was trying to see
if there was a clue to John and Nancy's parents  which would take me back into the late 1700's.
Regards Steve.

Have you got the marriage for Jonathan naming his father/occupation?

Witness names can be helpful too.  I can't see an 1841 census of him with John & Nancy but he does have a daughter Nancy so it looks good.

1841 census would not tell who parents were as relationships aren't given on that census -

I see marriage date as 26/06/1813

Many thank's again Comberton it would appear John and Nancy were dead by the 1841 Census
hence Jonathan being head of houshold my brother has their dates of death but not yet passed them on to me.

Thank's Trish that fit's in well with what I know I think the way to go back now lies in the Parish records
hopefully things will be better next year for accessing them!
