What became of Nancy NEWINGTON
« on: Thursday 29 October 20 23:24 GMT (UK) »
Nancy NEWINGTON daughter of Zebulon NEWINGTON surgeon and Ann WOOD baptised 9 Mar 1810 at Bishopsgate, City of London, married 22 Mar 1837 at Lewes to Alexander Hippolite DE LA PORTE [surname variously spelled].

In referring to the marriage record transcript against Alexander's name is (Paris [lic]) and I think this means he is from Paris and the couple married by licence.

After the marriage I can not locate the couple and hoping for some assistance please.

That's quite a name isn't it - have you looked for births of any children after the marriage?

Any more details like occupation or fathers name?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire
Burroughs - Arlingham Glos
Pick - Frocester Glos

Alexandre was 43 when his son died. Don't think the NY one can be him.

Thank you for your fantastic work Trish, hanes teolu and Kloumann :)

Thank you also for the information relating to the birth (and death) of the couple's son.

I had a look at the site mentioned however have no idea how to go about obtaining a translating of any record found to be able to determine what I am looking at and when I have found the desired one.

It this the site for the Saint Andre birth mentioned??? https://tinyurl.com/y6b822ay

Many many thanks for your assistance.

Do you agree that the arrival of Alexander into Folkstone on 23 Sep 1851 was the Alexander I am seeking?  Was Nancy with him?
