James WINTLE born Upton St Leonard c 1817
« on: Sunday 01 November 20 06:20 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to fill in details for the early life of James WINTLE c 1817. I am hoping someone can help me for the period up to his marriage in 1850. The only fact I have in that period is a Law List entry for 1843, he was a Solicitor at Newnham on Severn.
Any detail would help

What was his father's name from the marriage certificate?

The 1851 census has him still living with his father who is aged 80, also called James, a magistrate from Gloucester, widowed.

Death for a James Wintle aged 89 in Gloucester in 1860.

James Wintle aged 70 with a Harriet Wintle aged 60 and 4 servants can be found in Westbury in 1841.  Fairly obvious marriage for James and Harriet.

Report of marriage in Cheltenham Chronicle in 1813.

Baptism in 1818 to a James with parents James and Harriet at Upton.

This might be James in 1841, if his occupation is Sol (icitor).

There are lots of references to James Wintle of Newnham in the papers.  (Though there also appears to be a company 'James and Wintle, solicitors).

Do you have a subscription to F M P or BNA to access them?
