Queens Road Cemetery Croydon
« on: Sunday 01 November 20 21:51 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone know if the burial records for the Queens Road Cemetery Croydon are free online?
Or
Where I can get hold of copies of them?

It's my local cemetery and I have started (well since first lockdown) photographing the graves and transcribing the inscriptions.

I have started a blog along the lines of a Friends of QRC.

It's a long task and wondered if anyone had ideas, sources or info that may help.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried contacting the office at the Mitcham Road Cemetery? I did that when I was looking for my grandfather and they told me that both he and my great grandmother were buried in Queen's Road Cemetery in the same area. Unfortunately both are in unmarked graves but they did tell me where they were.

My aunt and uncle used to live in a house in Pawsons Road and their bedroom window looked into the cemetery!

It looks as if some of the memorials are on Find A Grave

Cheers Groom.

I was hoping to get the list of everyone interred there. Not sure the local council/authority/record holders would be happy supplying the whole list.

I have started by photographing the memorials and transcribing one by one.

I am hoping to get the blog (or website) to a level where there is a lot of info like other "Friends of" sites.

Thanks for the help :)

Mitcham Road may be.

The Queens Road is a separate cemetery. It's about a 5/10 minute drive away.

Thank you groom, sorry I did miss your link.

With all those listed on findmygrave already maybe it would be better to add the information there and pictures where they are missing.  :-\

For many years I've been seeking information re the burial/cremation of my grandfather.  He was Charles Henry Woodhams who committed suicide 21st January 1939.  He was living in S.E.17 at the time at the time but as there was a strong family connection to Croydon I thought it was worth trying there as well.  I approached the London Borough of Croydon in 1993 when the Assistant Registrar told me that there was no record of Grandad but she was able to give details of burials, in Queen's Road Cemetery Grave no:1969/V8, of other members of the family which I'm listing here in the hope it might save you a bit of research time, Lensmeister.

Josiah Woodhams of 5 Elis Davys almshouses   82 yrs   bur 6th July 1885

Philadelphia Woodhams of 5 Elis Davys Almshouses  82 yrs   bur 22nd June 1893

William Woodhams of Handcroft Road, Croydon   3 yrs   bur 8th September 1867

Francis Woodhams of 12 Handcroft Road, Croydon   3 weeks   bur 16th December 1895

Josiah and Philadelphia were my paternal Greatx2 grandparents
