Mallon and Cunningham of Templemichael, County Longford
« on: Monday 02 November 20 03:50 GMT (UK) »
I have been trying to find the names of my great great great grandparents for over a year and I am getting nowhere. My great great grandparents, James Mallon and Catherine Cunningham, were married on February 14, 1858 in Templemichael, Ardagh, County Longford. I have attached the record I found. In my research I have seen Mallon spelled Mallin, Mallen, Mullen. Is there anyway to break through this wall?

Thank you so very much for taking the time to research on my behalf. I am sure Catherine Mallon who married in 1896 and again in 1902 is the daughter of my great great grandparents, James Mallon and Catherine Cunningham. She is the sister of my great grandmother Susan Mallon. Not sure why she named her father as James Mallon on her 1896 marriage record and Patrick Mallon on her 1902 marriage record. All of the links you sent give me much needed information to continue my research. I am beyond thrilled to finally learn the name (John Cunningham) of my great great great grandfather! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Catherine born 1878 would have been about 3 yrs old when her father James died in 1881 so maybe she was unsure of his name in 1902

Excellent. I have managed to find and add six of James and Catherine Mallon’s children (including my great grandmother Susan) to my family tree but I had not come across Bridget. I interviewed my uncle before he passed away and he told me my great grandmother Susan’s family had a shop in Longford. The Longford Historical Society posted the attached on their Facebook page not long ago. It was very exciting to see the Mallon shop in the photo! Once again your assistance has been invaluable. Thanks so very much!
