he was a marine engineer, on a boat. - might help find him in 1930. maybe he went back to Louisiana.

not if Martha was a widow in 1927 :)

Yes I did notice the marine engineer when I went back to check. Thanks for that.

According to the 1927 directory he had died.

and I wonder if the tree owner thought Joseph died because he/she didn't find him in 1930.
