Whittle family
« on: Monday 02 November 20 18:57 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for any photos or information about ;
William Chaplin Whittle born 1896 Hinckley
and his Brother Horace John Whittle born Jan 1898 Mickle Hill.

Their parents were ,
John Stanley Whittal and Emma Hopkins.

I have births and a marriage for both brothers so please don't waste your time on that.

My DNA results point to one of them as being my Grandfather and I'm trying to find photos or info which might narrow it down.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi a-l

The Leicester Chronicle 26 April 1963 has a photograph of a Horace Whittle (no middle name), his age is 65 which fits with the DOB you have given.

The note with the photo reads:
"Mr. Horace Whittle (65) who was presented with an illuminated address yesterday by the directors of Fielding and Johnson, worsted spinners, of Abbey Mills, Ross Walk, for 50 years service on the firm."

What was your Horace's occupation? Do you have him on the 1939 Register?
Robbins - Wolverhampton.
Spooner - Monmouthshire & Wolverhampton.
Warner & Loundes - Dudley/West Bromwich.
Dod(g)son - Heysham/Liverpool/Wolverhampton

Hi Jool 😀,
Thanks for your reply. That is a great find ! Is there any way I can view that ?

No I have been unable to find him on the 1939 . He lived in Nuneaton at one point but think he returned to Leicester before the 1939.

Thank you so much for that great find !

He would have been working for the Leicester company 1913-1963, was he in Nuneaton during that time.  I suppose he could have commuted or been transferred to another branch of the company in Nuneaton for a time  :-\
