West Calder is in West Lothian!
It is now.

The Statistical Account of Scotland (1796) says, "The parish of West Calder lies in the county of Midlothian, in the Presbytery of Linlithgow and in the Synod of Lothian and Tweeddale".

The New Statistical Account (1845) also places it in Midlothian (Edinburghshire).

Maple, there's an Alexander MacKenzie age 88, a tailor d.9th Mar 1862 in the Bathgate Mortality Records.

Skoosh.

Alexander MacKenzie Sr was born circa 1865, Aberdeen (as per 1911 census). Too many in Aberdeen to determine the correct one.

If Maple31 sends for his marriage cert to Hannah in South Shields, they can find out who his parents were & the witnesses.

Sadly, if it's an English certificate it won't tell you the name of Alexander's mother.

I used a spare credit to look up his death cert in 1933

His parents were William McKenzie & Jessie Reid (both deceased)

I found their marriage in Old Machar, 1849. Jessie died in 1891, age 70, Aberdeen
