We tried something like this in the Isle of Man.

Back in April & May, 30 people at a time were repatriated, and had to stay at a country hotel for the 14 day isolation.

Costs were up to £1000 per person.

That changed in May to allow people to self-isolate at home.
And that process continues.
Those failing to self-isolate could (and do!) face a spell in jail.
Usually 2 weeks, but sentences up to 8 weeks for flagrant breaches.

We heard from a New Zealander this morning living in England, saying he was going to see his 80 year old NZ Mother, but was informed they would have to pay and stay in isolation and now decided not to go.

Seems Jacinda Ardern their PM wants to stop people importing SARS-CoV-2 / Covid-19 and keep case numbers extremely low.

"There are 3 new cases of COVID-19 today, 4 November 2020. There are now 73 active cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand."

NZ Population 4.8 million.

The paying is if you don’t stay more than 90 days.
If you are returning for the long term you don’t pay.

A much bigger barrier than having to book your isolation spot is actually getting a flight

It's not a matter of just jumping on old routes and coming back the way that you've always done. It's about how do you actually get through, which borders, whether you need quarantine versus where can you just transit, so it is very complex to come back from certain parts of the world and that's why people are using travel agents."

The cases we have at the moment are all either in or related to the managed isolation facilities.

I live in New Zealand. Yes, you have to pay to stay in Isolation for 14 days when coming to New Zealand. You can apply for an exemption of the fees. No fees if you are returning long term. You now need to prebook your isolation and receive a confirmed voucher before booking your plane tickets. Our Hotels are now fully booked till after Christmas. (MIQ) No Voucher no-fly is what they are saying.
There are 73 active cases, 71 cases are still at the border having been moved from isolation to quarantine. 2 cases are classed as community cases as they work at MIQ. (Managed isolation and quarantine.)
We are told Level one is not level none.
NZ Population 5 million.

One that will land on the day of your isolation slot, you have to be flexible, as there are only a number of flights available in a week.   Think we have about 32 managed isolation places.

Giving about 7000 individual slots

What do you bet KHP, that the Jet Park Hotels rebrand after this!

Most likely, but what people don't think of when booking the isolation slots, is the turnaround for the cleaning, is it going to be a deep clean, or just the normal that is done in motels?  Will you have a time slot to arrive, for this to be done?  Just thinking out loud. :)
