Cheers Shaun, I suppose a goo defer months will be worth it. Im currently reading stories about Stalag IVC Wistritz bei Teplitz. Ive found out the Ore Mountains were nearby so maybe that's where they ran to?

I've just been reading some mid-1945 newspaper reports of returning PoWs from Stalag 4c.

Some say that the guards fled as the Russians approached, leaving the prisoners in charge of the camp. Some cut the wire and escaped on foot, to find allied troops, Others say that when the Russians liberated the camp they shot the guards who had been cruel to the prisoners. One report said that there were SS in the hills around the camp. The SS used the camp as cover when they were retreating and were responsible for the deaths of several PoWs.

I'm sure there must be more written about the final days of Stalag 4C.
