Frank Treling
« on: Friday 06 November 20 16:55 GMT (UK) »
Hi
Firstly my apologies if this is not in the correct forum - it ends in Lancashire but I'm struggling to connect where it starts!
I am trying to find any background on my OH's Grandfather Frank Treling b 1890.

Death - 25th Feb 1930 Kirkdale Liverpool - Mill Road Hospital (Death cert)
Marriage - Alexandra Maud Evans - 1st Mar 1924 Wirral Registry Office (Marriage Cert)
Father - John Treling (deceased) Customs & Excise Officer
Children - Raymond Treling b 22 Apr 1925 Wirral Cheshire - Deceased
Barbara Treling b Mar 1929 West Derby Liverpool - Deceased

I have both marriage & death certificates + have located him on 1929 electoral roll with Alexandra Maud. He is buried at Everton Cemetery along with his Father-in-law, Mother-in-Law + one of their other children.
I have a possible Frank Treling born in Amsterdam Holland - not Netherlands - but St Maarten Antilles Netherlands Dutch west Indies - which comes from a Canadian Army record.
Same year of birth, served in the No 2 Construction Battalion Canadian Engineers - was in Liverpool briefly before going to France + then in Rhyl before returning to Canada
Also a Merchant Seamans cert - again same year of birth - born Liverpool NS - but cert is stamped Mercantile Marine Office Canning Place Liverpool.
There is a marriage for him in 1919 in Halifax Nova Scotia - Eva May Johnson
She later appears on immigration records as Divorced
Again I apologise if in wrong forum but any help to either tie together or rule out any of this would be greatly appreciated
Deb

There is a tree on Ancestry which says he was b 22.12.1890 Amsterdam.  Father John Henry Treling mother Marie Amelia Davis

First marriage to Eva May Johnson 11.3.1919 in Nova Scotia

EDIT - just noticed it is your tree on Ancestry.  It gives a lot of info re his parents - fathers full birthdate & birthplace so am puzzled why you are asking for the same info

Is he related to John George Treling who marries in Liverpool in Toxteth, 1918, and is a ship's mate on his son's baptism record?

CaroleW
Occupation - Joiner (Journeyman)
Marital status - Bachelor
Neither of which matches with info on Army record or divorce status
Yes that is my tree + the information is on there in the hope that it would link to other trees + confirm the details.
I have been unable to link all this together.
If he is the Canadian - how do I find a divorce for him?
What passenger lists do I look for to verify he came back here?
I've looked on Canadian Census' but unable to find him - looked on US census because according to his Army record his sister, brother + aunt are all in the US + all link to the family I have on my tree
I can take it that the Canadian is him but would like to verify if possible
Thanks

I have + read the military file - as you say it is an interesting read - he was possibly one of the predominantly black battalions serving inWW1
if I've read it correctly he was demobbed at Rhyl where riots happened amongst the soldiers due to their ships being cancelled.
Also his home address when he enlisted Feb 1917- Gerrish Street Halifax NS - was destroyed by an explosion in Dec 1917 - narrow escape if he had been denied enlistment

I'm not sure if he is related to John George Treling - I haven't been able to connect him either I'm afraid
