Job (+ Felix) Westwood
« on: Saturday 07 November 20 01:42 GMT (UK) »
Hi Everyone I'm trying to find out who the mother is of JOB WESTWOOD please.

I have him being born/baptised 7 Feb 1808 in Old Swinford to father JOHN WESTWOOD and possibly a JANE or a Zipporah WEBB??? I'm a bit confused really as JOB'S (first wife) was JANE BURLEY).

JOHN WESTWOOD b 1790 Stourbridge died 1836. Any help in finding who JOB'S mother was would be greatly appreciated. FELIX B 1840 HALESOWEN was the son of JOB WESTWOOD and JANE BURLEY!!

 Kind regards Dianna

Is this Felix?

Surely a different Job/Jane couple

the fhs has this transcription

Bap 1808 Feb 7 Job Westwood to John and Sarah

freereg.org.uk has the following marriage (transcription)

1806 Dec 25  John Westwood of Kingswinford and Zipporah Webb of Kingswinford,
witnesses: William Heathcock and Maria Harris
at St Mary, Kingswinford, Staffs

So it could be that 'Sarah' in the baptism record is the same person as Zipporah.

Also on freereg, a baptism for Zipporah Webb
1787 July 22  Zipporah to Benjamin and Phoebe Webb
at St Michael, Brierley Hill, Staffs

I looked on the census
1841 Job and Jane Westwood, where Felix is aged one.

On the 1851 census, Felix, aged 10, is with Job and Caroline Westwood.

Both marriages for Job are on freereg.org
the first one to Jane Burley in1829, and the marriage to Caroline Burley at Dudley in 1850.  Both he and Caroline are widowed.  That transcription has his father's name, John Westwood.

I looked it up as both brides were 'Burley' by name  :)

Hi  Mckha489 and lisalisa.
Thank you both for your replies but I am confused lisa about your reference to freereg.org having BOTH marriages recorded for JOB Westwood to 1) JANE BURLEY in 1829 as this website has civil registrations only beginning at Sept 1835!  The second marriage is there as this was in 1850.

Did you mean the Old Bishops Records!!  I cannot find them at the moment for Worcestershire!  Where would the mention of Job and Caroline being widowed be mentioned, I think it could only be on the old bishops records but correct me if I'm wrong.

"Both he and Caroline are widowed.  That transcription has his father's name, John Westwood."

Again this could not be on freereg

Also on freereg, a baptism for Zipporah Webb
1787 July 22  Zipporah to Benjamin and Phoebe Webb
at St Michael, Brierley Hill, Staffs.

You did state that fhs has this transcription which would make sense.  So please correct me if I'm wrong here and perhaps the fhs has the Old/earlier records re 1806 Marriage of John and Zipporah also the 1787 baptism of Zipporah.  Thanks Dianna

I found the marriages transcribed on www.freereg.org.uk , I think you're thinking of freebmd which is for the civil records from 1837.

www.freereg.org.uk has transcriptions of parish records.

this is the link for the marriages
https://www.freereg.org.uk/search_queries/5fa6edecf493fd9a0d52ea19?locale=en

the baptism is also on that site but in Staffordshire.

the fhs website that I looked on has Worcestershire records (transcriptions from parish records) and there are gaps, so not everything is there.

The fhs has the baptism for Job in 1808, but not Zipporah Webb, Kingswinford is in Staffs.
