Photo upgrade/restoration from newspapr cutting
« on: Saturday 07 November 20 13:53 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

I am new to all this and it all looks very interesting.

I have a picture from a newspaper cutting and wonder if anyone would know how to upgrade/enhance it. It is the only known picture of a relative killed in the First World War at Cambrai in 1917 at the age of 19..

It is my great uncle, Alexander Phillips Macmillan from Dundee. The photograph is part of the newspaper cutting attached which gives a brief account of his background and circumstances of death. His final resting place is Level Crossing Cemetery, Fampoux, France. I do no not have any other pictures of him so an enhanced version of the photograph would be wonderful.

Thank you

Hello & welcome
To get the best results you need to scan just the picture if it's possible to  do that.
You're allowed up to 500kb. per image.
At present it's very pixelated close up.
You'll also need to rename it.

Hi, Simon and welcome to Rootschat.

I've had a go but be aware that what I've done is as much an impression of what he might have looked like as a true restoration of what he actually looked like. As Jim said, with a better scan you would have a better chance of enabling restorers to do a truer depiction of his features.

Cheers,
Peter

Like Peter, I've done an impression of what he might have looked like.
