this is a shot in the dark,
from a wounding record on find my past
it states the soldiers next of kin was from Broxburn
where would find my past have found that detail
and would that resource also contain the next of kins
name and address,
this info may help us locate his only sibling we cant find

His next of kin would be on his attestation papers so it may be that his record survived the bombing in WW2. In addition his wounding may have been published in a local newspaper along with details such as son of Mr & MRs So and so, or his siblings.

FindMyPast don't cross refer a detail from one type of record to another so the nok detail would have been on whatever the "wounding record" referred to was.

          sorry i gave the wrong info the record was from forces war records
not find my past after looking closer i think the source for it
came from the national library scotland,
i ve searched the library and cant find any reference to it
i may have to pay a visit to their reading room,
they re is also a reference to a war office list 5556 
whatever that is,

 his service records did nt survive, but have found lots info on him
with the help of Max and others,
the soldier in question is John Mackay 9488 2nd and 7th seaforth highlanders,
his parents died before he enlisted around 1906 going by his service number
all of his siblings we know where they were located all bar one sister
none where in broxburn, what i was hoping for was seeing his next of kin
was listed as broxburn perhaps where that piece of info came from
might have more detail of who and where that next of kin was.
and due to my experience on here if anyone knows where to find the source

I think we found before that he was wounded in March 1918.  The reference to NLS and the "5556" makes it almost certain that this is a reference to the daily casualty list No 5556 that was issued in the newspapers around May 1918 (I am tracking it down).
These lists put the name of the soldier's residence (as far as the army knew it) in brackets after his name.  There are no nok details.

Back when I track the list down, that period had enormous lists with the casualties mostly from the Mar 1918 German Spring Offensive.

Per newspaper reports he was wounded in 1914 and being treated in the 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth Common (under date of 18th October, newspaper reports 20 November 1914).
