HEANEY/HENEY/HEANY OF BALLYMACREVEN
« on: Sunday 08 November 20 14:35 GMT (UK) »
Hi All

Needing some expert help please as this brick wall is driving me insane.

My Heaney's can be traced back to 1851 at Number 12 Ballymacrevan Townland.

William Heaney, Head, M, 49, Linen Weaver, County Antrim,
Ally (Alice) Heaney, Wife, M, 50, Spinner, County Antrim,
Margaret Heaney, Daughter, U, 23, Linen Weaver, County Antrim,
Rose Heaney, Daughter, U, 21, Linen Weaver, County Antrim,
Hugh Heaney, Son, U, 19, Linen Weaver, County Antrim,
Jane Heaney, Daughter, U, 16, Linen Weaver, County Antrim,
William Heaney, Son, U, 12, None, County Antrim,
Ally Heaney, Daughter, U, 8, None, County Antrim,
Elizabeth Johnston, Unspecified Kin, U, 38, None, County Antrim,

William and Ally are my ancestors via son Hugh Heaney.

I've had help previously on rootschat so to avoid any duplication and wasting any time I'll list what is now know to be fact. I don't need any information on Hugh after he married Martha Peacock - Anything before the marriage would be welcomed

Hugh Heaney born @1831 is my ancestor he married Martha Peacock Rasharkin RC Church Ballymoney, Co. Antrim. Heaney written as Heney October 1849 . I have tried so many times to trace a birth or death for Hugh but nothing conclusive. I've almost given up on ever finding the man .
His parent were William and Alice Heaney and he had sisters Margaret, Rose, Ally, Jane and brothers William, Henry. - I know nothing about any of them. Except from the family listing in the 1851 Irish Census
I know that Hugh's father William's father was called Henry - but nothing else and I know that his wife Ally's parents were Johnstons - No first names or details I'm afraid.

Also on the 1851 Cesus therea re a few other Heaneys living in the village in houses nearby but I've been unable to connect them

13 Ballymacrevan Townland
Henry Heaney, Head, U, 57, Farmer, County Antrim,
Ann Heaney, Sister, U, 61, Spinner, County Antrim,
Mary Heaney, Sister, U, 46, Spinner, County Antrim,

I think these might be Williams siblings

and

9 Ballymacrevan Townland
James Devlin, Head, M, 26, Weaver, County Antrim,
Mary Heaney, Servant, U, 25, Housekeeper, County Antrim,
Mary Heaney, Neice, U, 10m, None, County Antrim,

No idea how they fit in or how Mary heaney could be James Devlins Neice

Finally.....

8 Ballymacrevan Townland
William Keyland, Head, M, 40, Farmer, County Antrim,
Elizabeth Keyland, Wife, M, 36, None, County Antrim,
Daniel Keyland, Brother, U, 50, Farmer, County Antrim,
Ann Keyland, Daughter, U, 8, None, County Antrim,
Elizabeth Keyland, Daughter, U, 6, None, County Antrim,
John Kelly, Servant, U, 30, Ploughman, County Antrim,
Mary Tipping, Servant, U, 26, House Servant, County Antrim,
John Heaney, Servant, U, 14, Cow Boy, County Antrim,

Again no idea how this John Heaney could be related but It feels like he must be.

Can anyone help me trace Hugh's brothers and sisters - The children of William and Alice?

Thanks

Paul

Have you searched for a marriage of a female Devlin to a male Heaney &/or the birth of Mary Heaney in 1850 as she's only 10m i.e. the date works quite precise from the1851 census.
