Burial Look Up if possible please for 1935.
« on: Monday 09 November 20 16:50 GMT (UK) »
Just wondering if anyone could help with a burial Look Up for 1935 please.

I acknowledge and appreciate in the first instance that Leicester covers a large area and that this request is a big ask but I have had some brilliant results over the years supplied by some lovely people who have had very little information to work with. So I am hoping someone may be able to help with this Look Up request.

I would like to find burial information for my Great Grandfather John Hall born circa 1862. I have been trying for ages to locate him after 1911 (where he is living with his daugher Lily and her Husband in Brandon Street) but as yet have found no record of him after this date.

His wife in 1911 was living in Bardolph Street together with four children. I have not been able to trace her after this time either but I did get help with a burial for her in 1934 at Belgrave Cemetery.

I understand this is a long shot but I have found 2 death records for John Hall and by carrying out the reverse calculation using the death age taken away from the death year they appear to be the two best candidates.

The first is John Hall aged 72 in the March quarter 1935 Barrow Upon Soar and the second option is John Hall aged 73 in the June quarter 1935 Leicester.

Many thanks in anticipation

There's a burial for John Hall in Gilroes:

buried 10 April 1935 age 73, of 63, Buckminster Road.

also in the same plot are Mary Eliza Hall, d 1935 age 66, of 9 Richard St, and John William Hall age 61, of Buckminster Rd; plus George Weston (1910, age 52) and Ernest Frederick Wright(1923, age 46).

I checked Welford Rd, just in case, but neither of the 1935 burials was there.

Belgrave was in the Barrow on Soar reg. district so the death registered in that district seems more likely.

Hi Annie65115,

Many sincere thanks for taking the time to reply to my Look Up request and for the research you carried out before posting the details.  ;D

Unfortunately none of the names you mention are familar to me, likewise the addresses too.  :(

The good news however is this now makes the remaining John Hall aged 72 from Barrow Upon Soar the main candidate. I have been researching my tree for about 10 years and this is the closest I have come to finding out where my Great Grandfather is buried.

Perhaps someone might have access to Belgrave cemetery details and could kindly carry out a Look Up for me.

Many thanks again  Annie65115, your help and assistance is greatly appreciate.  ;D

Thank you very much Suz for your reply and for the details you enclose. I`ve saved and printed them off for future reference.  ;D

Hi willsy,

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply, hope you are keeping well under the circumstances. Had a ride to Lutterworth a few weeks ago, popped to St Marys church and put some fresh flowers on my Grandfathers grave before having a ride to Ashby Parva to have lunch in my Grandfathers old pub. Framework knitters museum was also on the list but they were only opening on a Sunday.

Perhaps try and visit Leicester in the New Year.

Take care Steve  ;)

Thanks very much willsy for "Popping" back again after checking the burial index, at least I can tick a few more check boxes and eliminate a few more options.
