Sending messages via Ancestry.... help!
« on: Thursday 12 November 20 20:09 GMT (UK) »
I’ve just logged in to my Ancestry account and found my maternal grandmother on a family tree that has all the right people in it and I want to send him a message....

What have they done to the messaging service... I’ve clicked on his name , then the message bubble ... it’s taken me to my messages but nowhere can I see how to message him....

Please can someone advise me....

Thanks in anticipation

Thanks LM! - it’s a side of the family I don’t know much about so got quite excited.... now sheer frustration at not being able to send a message.....😤😤😤

Wonder what they’ve done... hopefully someone will have an answer

To send a message on Ancestry, -

Click on the subject’s name, - that will take you to their profile, under their photo and blurb is a green oblong box that says Message, click on that, a dialogue box opens on the right hand side. Compose your message, click send, and voila, - your message will speed off through the ether!!

You do sometimes have to scroll down to the whiter portion of the page, where in faint letters it says “type your message here”

That’s if you’re messaging someone that you’ve previously messaged.

I did all that.... but no dialogue box on the right hand side.... only the one below which would be a response to the person I last communicated with....could it be because I’m using an iPad?
Never had problems before... have they made some changes?

Thanks for your advice but can’t see where to type message to a new person!

At the top left there’s a green box +New... tried that but you have to enter the username or name... tried that but there are at least 6+ with that same name so my person could be any of them....
