Jane Bindon
« on: Saturday 14 November 20 15:56 GMT (UK) »
I have been sorting out some items from my parents house and have come across an embroidery item (see attached). I believe it came from the family of Ann Bindon who married Solomon Smart (my ancestors). They were from the Holforsd, Ditch, Stringston area of Somerset. I guess it was made by Jane's mother as it stats Jane died May 7  1847 when she was 18 years and 7 months.
Thank you for any help.

Can you clarify your request as it’s not clear what you are asking for?

If she died 1847 then her death will be on freebmd?  Have you checked there and also the 1841 census?

Are you saying that Ann was Jane’s mother?  If so - she would have been Jane Smart

If not - who was her mother?

I wonder if anyone could clarify if it is from my  family as it looks to me that it must be as Bindon is an usual surname and why would we have the item?
Soloman Smart 1822-1903 married Ann Bindon. I have no knowledge of the Bindon family. It would be lovely if anyone could help.
There is a Jane Bindon who is a servant in 1841 at Old Cleeve. This is the right area and her age appears to be correct but it does not provide any additional information. The 1851 will not be worth looking at as by then she had passed.
Thank you for your help. Whilst typing there has been another helpful reply. Many thanks Mark

Solomon's marriage, Williton, 1845. to Anne Benden ???

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2D41-XV1

There was a Ann Bendon born 1818 in Nettlecombe, parents Thomas & Anne but I think she died 1859. There was an Ann Benden born 1815, Shepton Mallet, but I think that is too far from Nettlecombe.

I think that the embroidery of Jane's death was made by her sister, Ann. Hence the reason it is in your family's possession.
