Hi, following on from Forfarians post, Oldscottish.com have the minutes of a Poor Law appeal by Jean Gray or Smith (which was refused). I'm not sure if you'll find any useful information. They will charge 3 for a copy of the minutes from 1850.

Received Harry's marriage cert. today of 1894 in New Zealand and states his mother was Beatrice Forbes Gray; born in Aberdeenshire.  Father 'Harry' Farquharson.

So confirmation of Harry's birth registration of 1855.

A bit disappointed with the Parochial Board doc. for Jean/Jane Gray.  Have attached all that was written;      "608 Jean Gray or Smith.  Tarland and Migvie.  The board dismissed her complaint".
