Hello
That is him, 31st Dec 1879, I have a copy of his berth certificate.
I think we're close, it's frustrating, where are they on the 1939 register.
Thank you for your continued help all

Chris

It would be interesting to see if Maud is on her own on the 1939 register, her children were Gilbert , Issabelle, Ruby.

Daughter Ena was with them at the Drill Hall.   I can't see births for the childrens names you mention with mmn McKeowen   on GRO index, were they born elsewhere.  Are you able to give approx years for their births in case they are with her in 1939.  Ena was born Hartley Wintney reg district.

Sorry
Not Issabelle, it's Monica, she was in the ATS at the time, so wouldn't be on there.
Ive got the names mixed up, sorry.
Phyllis Ruby 1909 I think
Gilbert 1913 give or take
Ena Margaret ?
Monica I L 1917
Phyllis and Gilbert were born Exeter, Ena I think Surrey
And Monlca Surrey.
Maud Margaret Brown, nee McKeowen, William Robert Browns wife, was born in Exeter.
She sometimes put an e on the end of Maud, and brown.
Feel so close.
Maud moved to SA to promote boxing, I don't think it was before 1939, I might be wrong.
Her brother was Samual McKeowen, famous for his boxing booths.
I hope someone can solve this puzzle.
Chris

Ena & Monicas births are registered Hartley Wintney reg district. Hampshire
https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/reg/districts/hartley%20wintney.html

Monica may be on the 1939 it depends when she joined up  :)

Is this another child
BROWN, ARTHUR  WILLIAM DUDLEY    mmn MCKEOWEN

.....

Samuels birth reg
MCKEOWEN, SAMUEL  ELI     mmn NEWMAN

I think she is the Maud Mary Brown who died in March qtr 1956 -Exeter RD.  She was a spinster according to probate index which would agree with that 1939 entry.

So
We have William Robert Brown, assumed died 1937, even though I can't find a burial record on deceased online. So can't buy it and see if it's him.
Not in the drill Hall Lewisham in 1938.
No sign of Maud on the 1939 register.
