Herbert Hassack died Mesopotamia June 11th 1915
« on: Monday 16 November 20 12:11 GMT (UK) »
We have been trying to identify my Great Uncle Herbert Hassack(variable spellings) born  1888 in New Marske, Yorkshire, England. We believe Herbert enlisted in the regular army pre 1911 and was in Kirkee India; driver 76th Battery Royal Field Artillery. He died in 1915:Name: HASSACK  Initials: H  Nationality: United Kingdom  Rank: Driver  Regiment: Royal Field Artillery  Unit Text: 76th Bty. 10th Bde.  Age: 27  Date of Death: 11/06/1915  Service No: 50280
Additional information: Son of Mr. G. and Mrs. H. M. Hassack, of, New Marske, Marske-by-the-sea, Yorks.   Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead  Grave/Memorial Reference: V. A. 1.
 Cemetery: BASRA WAR CEMETERY
We have 3 postcards we believe show his service in India but we cannot identify him and we have 1 photo we think could show him with his fiancee Ruby Penrose but we cannot identify the uniform. We have no other photos of him. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thank you

In 1911 he was indeed in 76 Battery Royal Field Artillery stationed in Kirkee India (1911 census).

However, the collar badges and that on the belt buckle are not field artillery related.  They resemble the badges of the 13th Hussars but the detail isn't good enough to be certain.
