Per Google - Alkborough spans the boundaries of Lincs & West Yorks

In 1911 - James is shown as b Amcotts Lincs but living in Amcotts West Riding Yorks??

Google has it wrong!!  Alkborough is definitely in (N) Lincolnshire, I used to go there every fornight when working, for 14 years!

Just looked at Wikipedia which gives the region for Alkborough as Yorkshire and Humber.

Amcotts is now in North Lincolnshire, but is the other side of the river Trent. At one time there was a ferry which went from Garthopre to Burton upon Stather, allowing movement between the 2 areas

The birth of James William S Coy was registered in the Thorne RD.  If you access the entry & click on Thorne it shows it spans Lincs & West Yorkshire

https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/reg/districts/thorne.html

Alkborough came under Glanford Brigg

https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/reg/districts/glanford%20brigg.htmln

Problem is that Lucyg85 gives no names or birthyears to base any search on

I hadn`t looked up any birth details etc. I must admit I haven`t given it any thought as to where the registration took place. Maybe it was easier to get to Thorne for registration rather than Scunthorpe of Brigg.

Births have to be registered in the Registration District in which the birth occurred.

There are a number of parishes within the Thorne Registration District - some in Lincolnshire; some in Yorkshire.
