Judy & Carol thank you both very much for your thoughts on this.

I was going more by the style of dress (or at least what one can see of it) and hairdo which seemed to fit with some late 1860's styles on the Roger Vaughan site.

I've got a book by Robert Pols which suggests that the vignette was occasionally used in the 1860's.

Thanks Jen...Unfortunately we have had a setback as our buyers have had to put their property back on the market, as their first time buyer's offer of a mortgage has been withdrawn due Covid-19 related to job loss 
We are currently living in something akin to a warehouse with the boxes piled up everywhere!! I can't see us moving until after Christmas now 
It has been a blow for all of us, but, I feel so sorry for the young couple who were looking forward to spending their first Christmas together in their first home 

There is a fine line between late 60s and early 70s images and photo dating isn't an exact science:

I think the  pics from the late 1860s-early 1870s are difficult to judge.

Yes I think so too...Thanks Gadget  We have accepted it and are taking things a day at a time. We are resigned to the fact that we will most likely be here for Christmas but, many people have more serious things going on their lives and for that, we are thankful.
