Esdail Watkinson

I've been going back over some previous Essex research, and in particularly the children of Thomas Watkinson (1812 - 1899) and Mary Ann Allen (1809 - 1875), and I'm seeking some enlightenment  . Their children are:

William Allen WATKINSON (1834?- )   
Sarah Ann WATKINSON (1837?- )   
Adeliza WATKINSON (1841- )   
Esdail WATKINSON (1844- )   
Louisa Allen WATKINSON (1844- )   
John Allen WATKINSON (1846- )   
Susannah WATKINSON (1848- )

Problem one, I can't find a birth index entry for Esdail.

Esdail married Ellen Warner; I've yet to find that actual date. Their children are:

   Louisa Ann Warner WATKINSON (1868- )   
   Abraham Esdail WATKINSON (1873- )   
   Margaret Emily WATKINSON (1876- )   
   Thomas WATKINSON (1878- )   
   Esdail WATKINSON (1881- )   
   Alice WATKINSON (1884- )   
   Nelson WATKINSON (1886- )

Problem 2, I came across these two birth index entries on the GRO website for Esdail junior:

WATKINSON, ESDAIL; Mother's maiden name: WARNER     
GRO Reference: 1881  S Quarter in HALSTEAD  Volume 04A  Page 452

WATKINSON, ESDAIL; Mother's maiden name: WARNER

Why two entries in different volumes? FindMyPast has only volume 04A.

Yes, Louisa is:

1844 OND Halstead Union 12 111; Mother's maiden name: Allen

I've checked the image as I assumed that if Esdail and Louisa were twins, the registration would be together, but no, they aren't.

The image of the entry in the volume shows  4a, so I would go with that one.

Not sure Millipede why you say about the birth of Louisa in 1844 when the query was for  the 1881 birth.

Yes, but you asked about the two entries in 1881.

I should have added that the entry in the book clearly shows Vo. 4a, there is no entry in there for 4b. That’s why I say go for 4a.

I have read it as though OP can't find birth reg for the 1844 Esdail - I can't either at the moment

He isn't the same age as Louisa in the census, he is a year or two older.
In 1851 he is 8
In 1861 he is 17

There is at least a death reg
March 1914 Halstead 4a 921
Watkinson, Esdale Allen   
age 71
