Thank you. I think this latest post fits with the information i have. I'm not 100% that the McGiverns below are my ancestors.

I know my great great granda, Michael worked on the railways and was a quarrryman, in the Scottish borders region.

His son was an insurance man, and may have been involved in Coatbridge politics.

Elizabeth born, 1892, Coatbridge, daughter of Patrick Ferris & Ann Greenaway, married 1875

The Ferris's are on the 1901 census, Coatbridge, Patrick 48, Annie, 46 and 9 children ages from 24 to 1.

The 1911 census, Coatbridge has

Michael McGivern Sr 48, Mary 47, Mary A, 23, Elizabeth, 20, Michael Jr, 18, Helen, 14, Lawrence, 12, Edward, 10, Peter, 6, & Bernard, 3.

A total of 12 children born, 9 still alive.

Mary A & Elizabeth born England, Michael Jr & Helen born Annan, the other 4 in Coatbridge.

The family were living in Annan at the 1891 census. There is a John J, 7 & a Margaret, 2 as well as Mary A & Elizabeth.

There was also another child Thomas McGiveron, born 1887, Wigton, MMN McGleave who died age 2, in Annan, 1888.
