2020 Flu Vaccination
« on: Saturday 21 November 20 17:23 GMT (UK) »
Not quite sure where I should be putting this "rant"  :-\

I received, this morning, my letter from NHS reminding me to book my appointment for the flu vaccination.  OK!

BUT then, a second sheet of paper regarding "Help the NHS save money on letters like this" - again OK - save paper and postage.

BUT then that same page offers only ONE alternative and appears to assume that EVERYONE has a smartphone and can download the Camera app.

When will it be accepted that not everyone has a smartphone, can afford a smartphone, or even want a smartphone?

Sorry, a MOF  :-*

I don't have a smart phone, not sure if I really want one  either even though I have my daughters discarded one here if I   want it

When will it be accepted? when all us oldies have passed on. ;)

What gets me is the sheer arrogance of some people to think that everyone has a mobile phone nevermind a smart one.

Thank you, Bee - my sentiments entirely, although I do have a mobile phone (rarely switched on)  :)

As for the flu vaccine - I've never had one, only ever had flu once, and haven't had a cold since 2013.  AND, as far as I am aware, my GP practice isn't open for "face-to-face" appointments (but I could be wrong!)

I have a smart phone but I do not want a load of apps.

So it is not when will they get their head around not everyone having a smartphone but the fact that just because you have a smart phone some of us do not want it full of apps.

My GP practice does not have my mobile number, I suspect that is why I had to ring up to book my flu jab when my neighbours had received text about theirs  ::).   They do have my email through 'Patient Access' and my landline number which the hospital appts office have no problem using.

The practice is open for face to face appointments but only after a telephone consult deems it necessary.  Nurses are giving injections as usual.

Like BumbleB my mobile is rarely switched on.  ;D

I don't like those swipey 'smart phones' either and I am absolutely sick of organisations telling me to 'download the app'.

My mobile is a wrinklies one which closes up. It has large, jolly numbers and letters to press. I love it.

I was given the flu jab at my GP surgery by the nurse. Had to ring the bell, go in one way and out another way. The nurse told me that I should also have a pneumonia jab and a shingles jab and I could have the pneumonia one there and then - in my other arm.

Hence I had both the flu and the pneumonia jabs together (well -- one after the other!)

I have an elderly phone which is not connected to the internet, although it can be - just about! I get text messages from the surgery, and the procedure for the flu jab was very like Pennine's.
