so Where do you think you found ann in 1841?
You gave no age, no birthplace, no clues. And Samuel should be around somewhere, surely?

I thought this was her, but as you say, the absence of Samuel makes me now doubt this. Was the census taken before his birth maybe?

There is a George Weeks in Clifton in 1841 with probable parents George & Hannah.  Both Georges occ were Mason.

If this is the same George, and the George I am looking for - he seems to have a different (another) wife

there's a possible baptism for the Ann Weeks born 1848 in the parish church of Bitton at Oldland daughter of Daniel Weeks, mason, and Selvey(?). Marriage sept qtr 1844 Highworth for Daniel Weeks with Silvia Dark on the same page. Marriage register gives her father as Samuel Dark so she may be a sister of Ann Dark. Daniel's father is James Weeks, mason, and one of the witnesses is George Weeks. Looks like the same signature as on the marriage to Ann Dark.

The George Weeks in the 1851 census - I’ve looked at the children’s births on the GRO website - their MMN is Fidler.

George Weeks marries Mary Fidler in 1845 - he is a mason, fathers name is given as George Weeks, and he is also a mason.

Has George toddled off across Bristol, whilst still married to Ann, and married another woman and had a family with her? It can’t be him, can it? Have I just found my first bigamist in my tree?  :

the George who married Mary Fidler signed with a mark, the George who married Ann Dark signed his name.

A possible George for the one who married Mary Fidler was baptised in Stapleton 20 July 1828, born 30 Jan 1818, son of George Weeks, mason, and Anne of Stapleton. Sister Anne was baptised the same day.

There's also a George Weeks aged 3 baptised 23 July 1820 at St Philip & St Jacob, son of George, stone cutter, and Elizabeth of St Philips. Same day as brother William aged 18  months. Abode Broad Plain.

So it looks like there are two father and  son pairs of George Weeks, all stone masons.

I’m still having no joy turning mine up in the census. He is certainly not with wife Ann.

George Week of Gloucester Lane is buried in 1845 at St Philip and St Jacob, might be same chap as the 1820 baptism.

He is a headache, this one!
