There are a couple of butchers with the surname Woodland on the 1911 census. One is called Bowden - he is a journeyman butcher living in Camberwell, so doubtful this shop is his. Could be family though.

Thank you - I will have a look

Peterborough was in Northants back then.

Yes, that’s true. I will have a look.

In the 1885 electoral roll for Marylebone

John McLean, Tailor, has the front room on the first floor at 14 Gray street, Manchester Square, a 3 storey private house. Owned by F. Woodland, Butcher, Henrietta street, Manchester square.

In London censuses a Bowden Woodland b Dorset can be seen in the censuses working his way up the butchers trade

Added, sorry Ruskie, I had typed that up, so posted.

Thank you - I will investigate further

The shop has an number on the glass over the door.

Suggest you put the photo on a historic Northants facebook group, or similar, to see if they can identify the road/building.

e.g.

Thank you - Probably my next stop.

Might the chap on the left be Bowden Woodland? There's a photo of him here: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/family-tree/person/tree/50500753/person/26681469701/facts

From newspaper reports he was in Reading circa 1884 so he wasn't always in the London area.

He does look similar Shaun, something about the cheeks.  I noticed this photo of Bowden and his brothers in the "gallery" and wondered if the man at the back right could be the man in the shop doorway (or am I just trying to make it fit  ::) ;D)

Just out of interest what is a Cash butchers as opposed to any other kind of butcher
