Where did you get the date of marriage from?  You say he was Glaswegian but have posted on the Radnorshire board.  Was the marriage in Wales?

Can you explain your 2 dates please - your header says 15.10.1785 but you then give a marriage date in 1771

Marriages for that period never show fathers names.

If he was born in Glasgow - have you checked www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

This is the only Welsh marriage on Family Search

there's a marriage licence from 1771 for John Bywater and Jane Morris, widow, both of Llanbadarn Fynydd, Radnorshire. Not particularly near to Glasgwm. Haven't spotted the marriage online as yet.

Re. Parents of peter bywater

Hi,
I'm looking for the parents of peter bywater ( born 1785 glascwm)
I know their names are john and jane..I originally thought they could be john bywater ( born abt. 1768)and jane wooller ( married around 1791) . However they seem to have gone on to have 2 daughters ( twins) in 1818. Therefore would this rule them out ( ie gap between Peter's birth and the daughters ie.33years)?
The current couple I'm now looking at are john bywater and jane morris. Both died in 1826 at Llanwnogg.( married 1771) .There is a link with this place and peter. Peter seems to be living here at one point ( record of some of his children born here ). My only issue with this couple is that it has been indicated they were born abt 1740, making them 45 when they had Peter- is this likely? Also I cant find birth records for them to confirm date of abt 1740. Can anyone solve who the correct john and jane might be ?????. Also it may be a different john and jane altogether??

the records for Llanbadarn Fynydd for the period of the marriage of John to Jane Morris are not online.

https://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/RAD/LlanbadarnFynydd

You may need for the archives to re-open so you can get the entry checked.

By the way, welcome to Rootschat!   :D
