I agree Royal Engineers, but it looks later than WW1, more like WW2 or later.

Have you considered applying for his records from the MOD? There is a cost of 30 and a long wait.

It is definately a WW1 photo.   All i have to go on is his full name, date and place of birth.  I have no military informnation whatsoever..
