Fountainbridge united free church, Edinburgh

Hello researchers

I have several family members who attended the Fountainbridge united free church in Edinburgh (Tollbooth).  This church no longer exists and it never had a graveyard.

My question is,  if you are a member of the Free Church at the point of death, particularly Fountainbridge, where are you likely to be buried?

What period are you talking about ?

The nearest cemeteries to Tollcross would be Morningside, Grange, Saughton and Dalry.

Hi Various periods

Weddings around 1920s.
Deaths from early 1900s to early 2000s.
Various residential addresses all pretty close to TollBooth

With regards to burials and cremations have you looked at 'deceased online' ?

Yes, I've looked at all the obvoious places, am now thinking about local registries but dont know where to start.  Edinburgh is b.....g. Looking for pointers, ty

Unfortunately it seems that the only Edinburgh information there is for the Seafield and Warriston Crematoria, Seafield Cemetery and headstones in three of the old kirkyards. All the other cemeteries in Edinburgh, amd Mortonhall Crematorium, are not covered.

These records are held by the City of Edinburgh Council. At one time it used to be possible to book a session at Mortonhall, where the books are kept, and view for yourself one or two volumes which you had to order in advance. Some of the volumes are so big that they used to bring them on special trolleys.
