And his middle name is Southland not Smith

I wonder if Altree was mistrans ribed as Smith because it's so smudged

He passed on middle name to his youngest son Ed Southland Altree

Do you know what happened to his sons in England?
(I have Altree -Williams distant relatives on my tree but as they are related by marriage haven't traced where Altree name came from )

Thanks for that , I could not read it . The early middle name was Southton so guess transcription misread .Benjamin two sons , one being Charles was my great grandfather born 1856 in Liverpool and died in Coventry in 1927. His brother Edward was born in 1854 in Birmingham and died in Wolverhampton in 1939
