« on: Thursday 26 November 20 18:36 GMT (UK) »
Trying to find any WW1 details about Albert Miller. I have a number of 7816566, this is from paperwork dated 1924.Also mentions Dragoons.
He was born in 1893/4,
He joined up in July 1912 in London
He has the 1914 star, BWM and Victory medals.
if possible his original army number?? please

You are probably already aware that over 60% of WW1 service records were burnt during the WW2 blitz.  Those that survived are available on the various subscription sites but Alberts is not found

Hi Carole
Thanks for reply, yes I was aware of that, I was hoping someone had knowledge of back tracking that number 7816566 to arrive at his WW1 number, so I can get a medal record card , i know there are a few hundred Albert Millers out there!
Im stuck!

The 7 digit number was introduced around August 1920 therefore his records would be held by the MOD (Available to NOK for a fee). The 4070 no as a result of Ancestry search of MIC and Medal Rolls

7816566 isn't in the Ministry of Defence listings of records held for servicemen born before 1901.

Perhaps you could post a scan of the document(s) you have.

Do you have his medals?

Thanks Guys.
I don't have the medals,so can't check the numbers.
I have attached a scan of documents, at the risk of major embarrassment, I hope I have not missed anything obvious :) :).
The gentleman in question is the grandfather of a friend, who has the docs, but no other details of earlier service
