What help for a widow with 5 children in Scotland 1929.
« on: Thursday 26 November 20 21:28 GMT (UK) »
My granny's first husband died in 1929 Scotland, leaving a widow and 5 young children.  Would my granny have had to rely on family to take her in?  Was there state help?  Many thanks.   ???

Possibly already covered but there was ........
"The Widows, Orphans and Old Age Pensions bill, 1925. (Contributory pensions for widows, orphans and persons between 65 and seventy)  Called called a “Widows pension”) in respect of the orphan children.

I did no know realize that the above was that old.  And of course there was always the Forces Pensions for those servicemen killed in World War One. When did thy cease?
