Ashburton PR burials state:
1789 January 18, Christian, the wife of Thomas PETHEBRIDGE
The 1809 entries read:
June 16 Christian PETHEBRIDGE
June 22 Mary PETHEBRIDGE, Widow

There was a James PETHEBRIDGE who married a Christian LEGASSICK in Buckfastleigh.

A Joseph & Grace CRANCH of Ashburton baptised a son John in the non-conformist Independent Chapel at Newton Abbot in 1754 - possible parents to Christian?
Joseph married Grace FURSMANat Ashburton 7 Apr 1738. Christian, a daughter of Joseph CRANCH, was buried at Ashburton 29 April 1749. Perhaps they then named their next daughter Christian?

Squance, Lillicrap, Dankester, Surtees, Yates

Great. I think there was a daughter b1783 Christian . She may have died unmarried in 1809 ??

Thanks for this. Any other gleanings much appreciated

The Petherbridge /  Cranch connection arises from Bradford where the Woodhead tree I am exploring has a marriage between John CRANCH Petherbridge from Ashburton Devon and Elizabeth in Bradford 1848 who had a daughter Elizabeth Petherbridge who married Joseph Woodhead in 1873 in Bradford.
all connected with wool trade / spinning/ mill related occupations

Thomas Petherbridge and Christian Cranch are my 4 x great grandparents and very difficult to find anything about them
their son also a Thomas married Mary Soper and they had a daughter Mary Petherbridge who married John Stroud Cornish my line
there are so many Thomas & Mary Petherbridge my brain hurts researching them.I believe the Thomas who married Christian was born in Ashburton in 1751 parents William and Mary but Christian Cranch came ready made ::)
there is a tree with Joseph Cranch and Grace Fursman as parents but I cant find any proof
