Hello Troops,
trying to match family legend with known facts.
My 2xG grandfather David McClure was born in Cloghroe circa 1822. He married Margaret Temple in Stranorlar in 1843.
David's son Samuel McClure and his brothers migrated to Victoria Australia circa 1868. Prior to leaving they were in farm house in Magheranappin. Apparently no room for the sons in the house/farm. This farm was in the hands of the GREGG family and the legend has it that they were related to the Australian McClure [ per above mentioned Samuel].
My 25 years of digging have found no direct connection but recently unearthed an entry in the Convoy Presbyterian Church burial records that could link the Gregg to McClure thru the Temple's.
This entry was James Stevenson GREGG [1872-1911] who married Elizabeth Jean TEMPLE [1898-1983].
Looking for HALLMARK & AGHADOWEY, hopefully McClure/Temple/Gregg family or those in the know to help fill some gaps.
Cheers
Jack Gee
