Mr Justice Coltham

   I would like to find out who this man was, as it is an unusual name based in East Kent and at that time almost entirely agricultural workers. I have found press references to him from 1838 and 1848 under that title, so no first name, but nothing in the 1851 census.

  That could well be him. I wondered if there was confusion over the name. I will do some checking, but it looks as if he was not, in fact, a strangely important member of my family!

It is a shame if he is not a relation.  I see what you mean about the surname in Kent, there are not many anywhere else are there unlike my Marsh's
