When Is Helen was advertised for rent in 1844 it was described thus
To be Let, IS-HELEN.
A NEW COTTAGE, containing a sitting-room, four bedrooms (one of which might be made a dining parlour), kitchen, dairy, &c. &c., with 10 Acres of excellent Land, distant from the Town of Carnarvon about a mile, and within five minute walk of the Menai Straits. It would suit a person with a trade, or a nurseryman and seedsman. More in family than a man and his wife and two grown children would be objected Rent £36 per annum. Taxes paid by the tenant. For further particulars inquire of John Haslam, Esq., Menai Bridge, or Mr. Rowlands, Auctioneer, Carnarvon. (This advertisement will not be repeated.)
Interesting given Thomas Thomas had the address Is Helen in 1841 (and a much larger family than envisaged in the advert!)
