William Chambers of Market Harborough/Little Bowden.
« on: Friday 04 December 20 12:11 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to find the marriage of William Chambers to a Mary.

A William Chambers and Mary baptise a son John in Little Bowden/Market Harborough 1766 and a son William in 1769.

Then in 1774, a William Chambers, Farmer, of Little Bowden, Widower, aged about 30 marries Ann Barrett by License.

I have Williams burial as 1810 Market Harborough (His baptism as 1741 Little Bowden) and Mary's burial as 1773 Market Harborough.

I cant seem to find a marriage for William and Mary?

The only John I can see was the son of THOMAS and Mary Chambers, b Mkt Harbro on Feb 18 1763. There are 2 other baptisms prior to this for this couple.

Thomas Chambers, of Little Bowden, m Mary Walter (or Walker?) in Gumley in 1739.

Little Bowden was in Northants at the time, I don't know about Great Bowden, but have you looked at Northants records?

From what I can make out -

John Chambers 1766 Little Bowden.
William Chambers 1769 Market Harborough.
Thomas Chambers 1773 Little Bowden.

I can only see Little Bowden records though Ancestry and they are not great at searching with filters. FindMyPast has Little Bowden but not all of them. FindMyPast gives Little Bowden as Leicestershire and Ancestry gives as Northamptonshire.

I have found a marriage in 1765 Maidwell, Northamptonshire for a William Chambers and Mary Leago both of the parish of Maidwell. Maidwell is about 7 miles from Little Bowden. This could be them.

Thomas Chambers and Mary Walter appear to be the parents of William Chambers 1741-1810.

This William could be a brother of Thomas Chambers of Little Bowden who marries Mary Walter. An uncle of the William whose marriage I am looking for.

I'm inclined to think it is the Maidwell marriage given the closeness (7 miles from Little Bowden) and I cant see any Chambers baptisms in Maidwell after this marriage which could hint at them moving away from there.
