Records for civilian staff at Royal Naval Base, Invergordon
« on: Saturday 05 December 20 08:41 GMT (UK) »
Just wondering if anybody's had any luck requesting records for staff at the RN Base at Invergordon, or similar bases.  Specifically, I'm talking about non-enlisted / civilian staff - in this case a timekeeper - for the period of WWI and immediately after.

I'm aware that Kew have Navy files for this period, but I've not seen anything to suggest it would include base / civilian staff.  Any advice?

Clearly I've not had my morning coffee if I missed that!  Thank you so much ev

EDIT: Unfortunately, it does not seem to include Invergordon.  Does anyone have any further pointers?

Not sure if you have looked through this -

Might not give you what your after , but there are lot of images of the dockyard including civilians.

I saw that, the photos are fantastic!  Unfortunately, very few of them are captioned and I don't have any other photos of the man in question to compare.  There's one photo with a man wearing a very prominent fob watch in addition to his pocket watch, and I'd be inclined to assume he's a timekeeper but that's mostly wishful thinking!

You could ask Highland Archives if they know of any such records. https://www.highlifehighland.com/highland-archive-centre/
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
