Oh and apologies it was indeed Jane, I think one of my grans family was called Sarah, as is my sisters daughter. Sorry for the confusion. Henry.

No need to reply individually to those who offer information.  Your reply that you made is perfectly acceptable to us.

Everyone can then follow the progress of information as it gets added.  :)

There are some topics that can cover a lot of pages and it would be a bit of a nightmare to reply to every person individually through the message system.

Is there anything else that you would like us to help you with?

Hi all and thanks so much for all your really accurate information. Sorry I was not forthcoming with dates, and ages its just that I wasnt really told a great deal. My gran did indeed die in 1989, and her mother was Jane Young, and father Henry Young. She had siblings, Flora, Joan, Edward, William, I think Sarah. That is all I remember sorry. I did not know my Great gran Jane came from Frizington, or that she was called Milligan, I always thought she came across from Ireland and that she spent some time in  a poor house? I also have learned stuff about my granda Telford that I did not know, I do vaguely remember being  told he was left by his parents, but no more. Thanks so much all, really whetted my appetite for research! Kind Regards Harry

When did Violet die?  There are 3 or 4 possible deaths in Cumbria for that name.  The only census entry I can find has father Henry but mother is Jane - not Sarah

Do you have the names of any of her siblings?

1911 entry

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X72S-L64

If that is the right family Violet was b 26.7.1908 and died 1989

Carole, why does it say ‘ NATURALIZED BRITISH SUBJECTS ‘, when births are registered in the UK?  :-\

Hi Harry. Our grandmothers were sisters. I am Flora's grandson. I remember visiting your grandmothers house in Keswick back in 1983 when I was over on holiday from New Zealand. Like you, I wasn't told much about our family history but will be willing to share what I know.

Regards,
Bill Young.
