Service records for any personnel serving after 1920 are still with the MOD.
They are NOT available online anywhere!

See: https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records
There is a fee of £30, and you'll need a copy of his death certificate.
You also need his Service Number OR his date of birth.

Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

There's a photo of a James Disley in uniform in the Burnley Express of 31 July 1940, page 2 "son of Mrs Disley, 30 Layfield Street, Burnley".

Also, 21st birthday greetings to "our son, Dvr. James Disley, on his 21st birthday,, Nov. 10th, 1943, serving with R.A.S.C, B.N.A.F. .......from Mum, Dad, sisters Florrie, Alice and brother Alec and all at home at 2 Catlow Street" in the Burnley Express of 6 November 1943, page 10
