janjim,

Sometimes an email to the cemetery may bring up further details written in a record book but not online, so I might try that.  This may be next-of-kin or who paid for the burial, funeral director (to send a subsequent email to), identity details etc.

Lucy, thank you, I have just sent an email message to them.   Let's hope this is the answer.

Good ... hope you have some luck with that.   ;)

I'm a tad puzzled that no other info has turned up in PapersPast etc.
This was a man - who, for the times - had lived to a ripe old age (sometimes, particularly in that era, they got a mention in the local newspaper).
Didn't find anything re:  a death of  "old / elderly man" or by "name search"  ... or using "coroner" in numerous searches.
And I see on cemetery record that "his funeral service was 15 December" - some three days after death (although that is probably due to the need for coroner's investigation).  No funeral notice ... nothing ???

If we could get information on the Coroner's Inquest maybe help, let's see what happens.
I am so grateful for the help given in the meantime, thanks all.

Just hang in there Jan,   ;)   I'm fairly sure a volunteer will be available soon for the Archives look-up of Coroner's report.

Well I've had a reply now from the Porirua Cemetery people, and they confirm the death of Richard Lewis 12.12.1913 aged 87 years, his occupation Soldier, buried in Church of England section.  Sadly they have no further information in the records of his family to confirm our family connection.

It would be wonderful if anyone out there is able to assist me with regard to getting any details on the Coroner's Inquest.   I know it is a busy time of year, I live in hope that someone could have the time, and would really appreciate any closure they could give us for this old gentleman.
