Unless Alice died in child birth or was in the workhouse.
I looked for deaths for Alice around the time of Sid’s birth, but could find nothing registered, which is why I looked at other possibilities.

I can’t see him as either.

He’s not will Alice, or Mary Grace.

So frustrating, can't pin Sid down.  Looking at his death certificate doesn't help much as the informant was Sergeant of Police at Redfern.  Unknown parents, living at 13 Vessey St. Waterloo (which is the same address as Miriam Campbell (Blank) unmarried) 28 Jan 1937 aged 59, born England and 58 years in NSW.  As there is no marriage for Miriam and Sid, I have even less information.

They had 4 children together Joyce, Sidney George, May and LLOYD BLANK.  Wonder where Sid was in 1891???  Dianna

Wonder if he is/was still with the Hawkins family.  Wonder how they fit into this story.  Dianna

You might want to see if the Hawkins brought him to Australia with them. I can’t see the Hawkins family on censuses after 1881. Maybe someone else can locate them.

I can’t see John Neck either.

And what about Sarah Kelly living in the house? She surely is the wet nurse to the 2 boys.
I wonder if she adopted one or both.

One possible death of Joshua Hawkins aged 49 in Newton A. in 1889.  So doesn't look like he came here with Sid! Regards Dianna

I have run out of ideas at the moment. I have looked at every possibility i could think of, without making progress. You could say i have come up with “blanks”. ;D
Perhaps new eyes will find a new angle.
I would get Henrys death certificate and see if there is anything on it that will shed some new light.
On Sid’s marriage or death record, does it say how long he has been in Australia?
