Annie I was thinking that also if Docherty could have been the father of John McCormick
Just came across this 1911 census on a tree address Rutherglen Road
Catherine Docherty age 67
Margaret Docherty age 35 Daughter
John Docherty age 17 son ( could this be John McCormick )
James McCormick age 4 ( foster son )
Rosie,
I think it's our JJ but it's difficult to know if a Docherty was actually his father, I'm leaning towards probably not?
When he marries he uses all his mother' surnames i.e. McCorm(a)ck, Frame & Reid but not the name Docherty & doesn't name his father on his marriage.
He's being brought up as 'adopted' & 'son' so surely (now thinking about it) he'd name his father on his marriage if he was an illegitimate Docherty?
Monica...Thanks for the marriage details for Thomas McGuire.
