Edward Salter baptism
« on: Thursday 10 December 20 19:46 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

Edward was born at 50 Percy Street in Swindon on the 17th of November 1914. I’ve not managed to find a baptism for him. Could anyone please see if they can?

I’d appreciate any help!

Do you know what church his parents married at, and how long before his birth?

Not many later baptisms are on-line.

Was William Charles his brother, baptised at Sevenhampton, Wiltshire?

His parents married at St. Laurence’s Church in Hilmarton near Calne in 1907; Charles Salter and the former Mary Ann Moore.

You’re correct about William Charles. The other brothers were Thomas Henry and Victor George.

Charles Salter abandoned the family in 1915, adopting the surname ‘King’, dying as Charles King Salter in Worcestershire in 1954. His 1939 Register entry has the exact same birthday, and was amended from Charles King to Charles King-Salter.

If his parents are Charles & Mary Jane nee Moore they married 25 Dec 1907 Parish Church Hilmarton

first child appears to be Thomas Henry Salter bn 1909 Calne mmn Moore

Yes, that’s all correct. Thomas was my grandma’s adoptive father. A nice bloke, by all accounts.
