GRO Births registered Stow mothers maiden name Church
BAILY, MARY  ANN  1847
BAILEY, EDWARD  WILLIAM  1849
BAILY, THOMAS  FREDERICK 1857
BAILY, ARTHUR  1859

1851 – 1881 various names for the wife of Christopher.

Joannah Bailey, Jemimah Bailey, Johanna Bailey, Jannah Bailey

You mention Married to Joannah Church 1866 (?) is this correct?

In 1851 Alfred A Church is with the family noted as son in law, I guess they mean Step Son.

I think Joanna was probably married before.as mentioned.

Colin
Clarke, Trickett, Orton, Lawless, Norton, Detheridge, Kirby, Goodfellow, Wagstaff, Lowe, etc.

On the face of it Christopher and Joannah had been living together as man and wife for several years before they married in 1866.

If you obtain that marriage certificate from the General Register Office;

https://www.gov.uk/general-register-office

that will give you the father's name of the bride and groom and make their baptisms easier to find.

If you haven't used the General Register Office site before - you will need to register first before ordering the certificate.
You will need the information from the details of the marriage;

Year 1866
Q/E Sep
Vol number 4a
Page number 913
Registration District Ipswich

I don't know if you have spotted it -- but Christopher left a Will.

You can order this for only £1.50 from Find a Will.
