Yes, I have seen that and the couple in 1939 register.
You need to get the marriage certificate for his father’s name and occupation. If the marriage was in a Catholic Church, there was often a note in the register with baptism/place details. You would have to get that from the church though.
How have you arrived at Patrick and Kathleen as his parents and New Ross rather than the one you have in the tree?

I'm not sure where to look to get more details without ordering certificate.

The certificate seems to be essential in this case as you don’t seem to have any firm information.

From what his grand daughter has given me.  I thought what I had in the tree was correct before they replied to a message.  Now it is in doubt until I find his birth details.

He doesn't seem to exist in either country other than a few records.

I found him in the 1939 register - did you see this?

Yes I saw that with a birth date.
The surname, as I wrote earlier, has variations in spellings when looking particularly at earlier records.

Unless the grandaughter has more details and evidence of Martin’s parents, you need the certificate which would hopefully allow you to progress further. Sometimes it just has to be done.

Thank you for looking at it.  I'll see what time brings maybe something else will show up.

I do understand that to keep purchasing certificates can be a  financial strain but it is also an investment.
Are you also related to Martin? If not, perhaps the grandaughter would explain her reasons for believing that Patrick and Kathleen are his parents.
Does anyone in the family remember if he spoke with an Irish accent?

I would be very interested in yours and her findings.
