Joyce L Pay

Joyce Pay was injured when an USAAF aircraft in 1943 ( one year either way) dropped a bomb and she received shrapnel wounds to her leg. The pilot said he thought he was over the sea. She died in 1945 but not by her injuries. It was a big story at the time and newspapers covered it. Do not know if it was the East Anglian times or other Ipswich papers. Can anyone tell me how to find this article please? Thanks ivor

Thanks Carole for the date. Opened up your link, but did not know what I was looking at? I just cannot see anywhere about the bomb being dropped by an American bomber who had not been to specsavers. Keep safe over Christmas and try to have have good one. ivor

She was born a long time after her parents married

Charles Pay & Florence M Catchpole married in 1912

The BNA does not appear to have copies of the East Anglian Times nor either of the 2 Ipswich journals for the relevant times.
