You will find a summary of the record and its date in the printed Register of the Privy Seal of Scotland (Registrum secreti sigilli regum Scotorum). I think the source you found the other book in only has volume 1 (1488-1529).

The record is obviously later than 1560 because of the ecclesiastical reference. Is it the McDowells you are interested in or Wallace, as he is highlighted?

Thank you GR2.  It appears to be February 1679.  The article was spread out across this edition in the earlier link so jumped by several pages, but without putting the date at the beginning of each section.

It's mostly the McDowells I am interested in, but also William Wallace.

The only Andrew McDowell in the Edinburgh Burgess Roll is Andrew McDowell of Lethmol, burgess by right of his wife, Agnes, daughter of he late James Naismith, merchant, made burgess and guildbrother on 14-9-1664. Is that your man?
